Y1 Cheetahs vs Y1 Bobcats

Coaches Comments:

The weather put on a show for us today - heavy showers making for some slippery conditions, and also some pretty impressive rainbows! This week we started off with some handball drills, with the boys concentrating well on the task - a dedication to improving their skills which will serve them well through their football journey. We started with Josh Horne, Jaxon Pollard, Mitchell Hudson and Travis O'Sullivan in the middle, they controlled the play well ensuring that the opponents struggled to get the ball into the Cheetahs defensive zone. On one occasion that they did, we saw a big pack contest from a high punt forward, and Mason Harding - eyes on the ball - wore a boot to the face, he will be going home with a little less tooth in his mouth! Well done to all the boys who stopped to check he was OK, great team spirit on show once more. A strong contest formed, with the Bobcats giving as good as they got, as the rain came through again, the boys did well to hold their marks and keep their feet. Declan Proctor continued his strong showing from last week, and Jacob Tarquinio was committed to the Cheetahs cause, despite the fact he will be switching sides to join the Bobcats next week. Good luck Jacob, we look forward to coming up against you in round 9! Come the final whistle, the sun had come out and it was smiles all round for the boys - who have the bye next week. Well done Cheetahs.

Best Players:

Zac Tayler-Klymovich was awarded best on ground today - he always seems to be first to the ball, and demonstrated his marking skills with some impressive takes. Getting on the end of a couple of tough grabs and moving the play on quickly by setting his team mates on their way, you can see why the rest of the team were worried he would not be playing when he was not there at the role call. Well done Zac.
