Y1 Cheetahs vs Y1 Cougars

Coaches Comments:

Round 8 started off with a downpour just before training started - which left the few early arrivals running for the cover of the trees, or the goal post storage! As 8 am rolled round, the weather was looking a lot clearer, but it was very cold. We started training with some running to get the blood flowing, then we practised our kicking, marking, grabbing the rolling ball whilst keeping to our feet and finally a bit of goal kicking too. The Cheetahs have been doing some work on ball up structures, ensuring we have one mad behind the ruck and one man in front to allow us to attack with confidence that if we get the tap we can push it forwards, but if we miss we have a sweeper mopping up behind. This proved to be very successful for much of the first quarter of our game, allowing first use of the ball which gave our forwards plenty of opportunity to get their hands on the ball with some mixed fortunes. Lachlan P, Finn and Lachlan W took up the midfield duties, and executed their plans brilliantly. On the stroke of quarter time, the rain came in once more. So much so that the storm drain to the side of the pitch overflowed and turned the western wing into a small pond! Some of the Cougars took the opportunity to go for a splash, and whilst the boys held on whilst the other games around us ran for the cover of home, by the time half time came the boys were too cold and wet to want to continue. We made our huddle, wished the opposition and umpire well, and all went home for a warm shower! Good work today boys, enjoy the shool holidays, we will be back in 2 weeks.

Best Players:

Lachlan P demonstrated how far he is pushing his game, staying alert, keeping his feet well and listening to everything the coach had to say. He will be given his certificate once they have all dried off a bit!
