Coaches Comments:

Like most people with a young daughter, I have heard all the songs from Frozen many more times that I would have chosen, so it's probably fitting that for the first time in forever, or so it seems, we had the sun out and conditions warm enough to melt Olaf this morning for what would be Oscar's last game with the Cheetahs, as he will miss the last 2 weeks skiing, in the snow. We have seen Oscar grow so much this season, like all the boys have, it's been a pleasure to see him throw himself into the contest and so often come up with the ball, even in the rain and cold - well done Oscar, enjoy your holiday! Today we saw the boys make the most of the conditions, with some great play from both sides. Jaxon continued his fine recent form, and did a particularly good job of concentrating on the game for long periods of time. Zac picked up a lot of the ball too, and Declan, playing with a sore hand, also showed his bravery by continuing to go for the ball. Mitchell made the most of having 2 spells in the forward line kicking a good number of goals for his team too - this morning was a really good game to watch, and as the season winds down and the warmer weather comes in, it is a good point to stop and think about how far these boys have come over the winter journey. We have 2 weeks left, and gala day tomorrow to look forward to. Good effort boys, keep it up!

Best Players:

We gave away 4 awards today, I had planned for 3 originally, but the way Josh carried himself all game, and in particular the last quarter, I just couldn't leave him out. You can often pot the boys with older brothers from the way they go for the ball without fear, and Josh is one of a few examples on the team, but what is more impressive is the way he applies his skills and decision making in the game environment. Lachlan P did very well today after being on the receiving end of some foot stamping in the first quarter, he was upset and wanted to go home. What impressed me was the way he shook this off and saw out the game. Not to be outdone by his namesake, Lachlan P showed me today that he has been working on his kicking - he didn't get the most touches but he did make sure every one counted, and his kicking today was very good, and importantly, accurate. Finally, Finn, who impressed me a lot at the start of the year, caught my eye once more. Not only did he volunteer to play for the Lions for the first quarter, but he showed a good skill level throughout, and after returning to the Cheetahs he made the most of every touch that he had. Well done all.
