Coaches Comments:

Another great Autumn day for Round#3 but no doubt the cooler wet weather isn’t far away now! With a reduced team of 10 players (unavailable for Round#3 was Reuben and Zachary), the Pumas kindly shared two players each quarter to allow the game to run at full capacity. A slightly more competitive training session seemed to encourage the boys to work hard and gain possession of the ball early. The boys had three specific areas of focus this week including manning up when the other team has the ball, getting to the ball first and making a concerted effort to get the ball to a team mate. They executed this well and were rewarded with the elation of success. Next week will see a specific objective of sharing the ball with team mates in each 3rd before transitioning forward. We’ll also continue to focus on calling and leading for the ball. Starting this week in the centre, Charlie worked competitively all day, never giving up and showcasing his kicking abilities with long, accurate drop punts. Together with Clancy and our two Puma fill-ins, this unit did a great job getting the ball to our forward line. Starting and finishing in the forward line this week was Kai, Ben, Cyrus and Jackson. These guys were outstanding with Jackson diving and launching himself at the ball with some rather incredible marking. I really hope someone got video footage of Jackson’s diving mark in the centre!!! Ben took a heavy knock in the mouth but proved his braveness by staying on field and toughing it out. An inspiration to his team mates and captain of the day, Ben was also instrumental in defence. As always, Kai got plenty of the ball and proved too strong for the Pumas defence. Starting a little tentatively this week, Hugo and Cyrus worked themselves into the game and both had impact with ball possession and some encouraging kicking. A concerted effort to ensure equal possession/disposal will continue in to Round#4. Jacob, Xavier and Eli all had great games with plenty of action, determination and much improved kicking skills. The boys have all realised if they compete, touch the ball first (in the air) or get to the ball first (on the ground), they gain possession!! The next step is to ensure they move it on to another Bobcat! Well done guys. Can't wait for next week!!! Ben

Best Players:

Jackson - Outstanding marking and determination to get the ball first. Created numerous Bobcat ball possessions. Charlie - 100% effort and never giving up. Great kicking technique and ball skills. Ben - Captain for the day, showcasing leadership and courage after a heavy knock to the face. Also instrumental in defence. Well done guys!!
