Message from the President 2019
Welcome back to WJFC for 2019.
What a fantastic year 2018 was as the club went through some positive changes.
This year we will see our girls footy competition expand to more teams, ranging from year 3 to year 10. So girls, if you’re thinking of giving footy a crack, or you know of any girls out there who may be keen to try footy out, let them know that they can contact the club via our website, email or Facebook page.
Once again our Auskick programme is in full swing and we are encouraging all Pre-Primary to Year 2 players to come down on a Saturday morning to have some healthy fun in a safe and educational environment. This year our Auskick teams are being supported by the Whitford Warriors Amateur Football Club, our senior club, and will see our little ones given the opportunity to play a game of little league during half time at the Warriors’ home league game. If you haven’t seen this before, it is gold!!
Our canteen and merchandise facilities will be up and running so you can show your colours whilst you enjoy one of our renowned bacon and egg rolls, sausage sizzles or hamburgers. The chip fryers are always working over time and we have purchased 2 amazing coffee machines serving freshly roasted Western Australian beans!
The ongoing support of our families for Friday Night Footy has been awesome. You can get a delicious meal on Fridays, the bar is open and the raffles are on!!!. We will let you know what the menu is via our facebook page each week. The lights are on the oval for the games allowing brothers and sisters to run around in a safe environment.
Another big thank you to all of our sponsors from last year and those that have generously given their support to our great club. We are proud to support our sponsors as they tirelessly give to the kids at our club and help to make our community a more collegiate and close knit environment. We welcome back all sponsors and encourage anyone who may be considering becoming a sponsor to contact our Sponsorship Coordinator, Barry Lloyd, so he can assist you with the process.
Once again, our club would not able to provide the amenity and facilities for our kids if we didn’t have the ongoing support of our volunteers. We are always in need of volunteers, whether it be to wave a flag when a goal is kicked, coach or manage a team or lend a hand in the canteen, our volunteers, the parents and friends of this club, are the people who make us who we are. So if you're interested in volunteering please let us know and we can help you to meet some of our great people and give back to our community in a positive and friendly environment.
Finally, and most importantly, our players; all of our kids who pull on a pair of boots, run around getting fit, meeting new friends and most importantly, having a bucket load of fun, it’s now time to register again. Get in early so you don’t miss out on your team and mates from past years, or if you’re new to the club, let us know a bit about you so we can make your experience here as fun and positive as possible.
Registration details are available on our web page.
Let’s make 2019 the best year of all –
If you are a Wildcat sing along with me...
See you soon,
Phil O’Donnell
